The advancement of civilization undoubtedly started in Anatolia, where modern Turkey is located
today, as the rich history of the region tells us. In this region particularly, sexuality has always
been one of the most discussed topics of mankind throughout the ages. Prof. Dr. Alpay Kelami,
who is considered to be one of the founders of andrology in Turkey, initiated first studies on history of
sexuality in Anatolia and further research has been conducted under the umbrella of the Turkish Society of Andrology.
